Day 3 : SOUTH COAST OF ICELAND TOUR

  •    Add @ EUR 64 per person for the Glacier Lagoon Tour

    Duration: 10.5 Hours/09:00 AM
Meeting Location: Pick up & drop at the hotel

Follow the North Atlantic coastline from Reykjavík into the volcanic and glacier-covered wonderland of Iceland's south coast. Walk behind the thundering veil of water at Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, take in the incredible views from the top of Skógar Waterfall, stand on the world-famous black sand beach at Reynisfjara, and visit the charming coastal village of Vík.
The tour starts with a drive through lava fields, right by the actively volcanic Hengill mountain, and then down to the rich coastline farmland. On clear days you will see Hekla Volcano and in the distance, the glacier-capped Eyjafjallajökull Volcano will rise majestically above the coastal mountains at its base.  Just a few kilometers off the coastline and easily visible are the volcanic Westman Islands, an archipelago of around 15 small islands, one of which is inhabited.

Our first stop is at Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, which is every photographer’s dream. The powerful Atlantic waves crashing on the black sands, the jagged basalt sea stacks, and the huge basalt-column cave are a sight to simply take your breath away.

After being amazed by the power of the sea in Reynisfjara Beach we will head on to Vík. The village of Vík is the southernmost village in Iceland, located on the main ring road around the island. Despite its small size (291 inhabitants), it is the largest settlement within 70 km.

On our way back to Reykjavík, we stop by the powerful Skógafoss Waterfall where a short walk up a flight of steps will reveal one of Iceland's most scenic views that includes glaciers, volcanoes, and black sandy beaches. We then stop at the 60-metre-high Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, famous for the hidden pathway behind and around it. Visiting the natural treasures of the South Coast should be on your Iceland Top Five.

Day 4 : VISIT SNAEFELLSNES NATIONAL PARK

Duration- 12 Hrs./8 AM/   Pick up point- BSÍ Bus Terminal

The Snæfellsnes peninsula in the West of Iceland is almost like a miniature version of the entire island. The area has beautiful samples of some of the natural wonders Iceland is famous for. This includes black beaches, magnificent mountains, volcanic craters, incredible birdlife, magical caves, and the most picturesque glacier of them all, Snæfellsjökull.

Volcanoes & Villages
This tour stops at the small fishing village of Arnarstapi and provides real insight into quintessential volcanic craters. Along the way, you’ll get great views of the iconic Kirkjufell mountain, and the dark cliffs and black sand of Djúpalónssandur bay are a favourite among photographers.
The Star of the Show
In the middle of this beautiful peninsula sits Snæfellsjökull, the stunning glacier that has captured people’s imaginations worldwide. One is Jules Verne, who began his Journey to the Centre of the Earth at Snæfellsjökull glacier. The tour offers numerous views of this beautiful landmark. It is, after all, the real star of the show.
Borgarnes
Borgarnes is a town located on a peninsula at the shore of Borgarfjörður in Iceland and is the largest town in the Borgarbyggð municipality, with a population of about 3750 residents. Here we make our first small stop and will be able to buy small snacks, which we recommend for the long trip.
Ytri Tunga
A small golden sand beach is known for its wildlife and common sightings of Harbour and Gray Seals.
Arnarstapi
A Fishing village, founding and being since 1565 a trading post of the Danish Crown and a seat of Viceroyalty in the region until the 19th century. Birdlife and unique rock formations can be found across the village’s shores. A Statue of Bárður Snæfellsáss – a legendary half-human, half-ogre from the Icelandic Sagas is prominently displayed.
Djúpalónssandur
A black sand beach near the foot of Snæfellsjökull Glacier. Rusted remains of the British trawler Epine (Grimsby) litter the coast after wrecking on the cliffs nearby on March 13, 1948. Four lifting stones can also be found here as a test of strength among the locals. The Fullsterkur stone weighs 154kg, Hálfsterkur weighs 100kg, Hálfdrættingur at 54 kg, and Amlóði at 23kg. To be considered fit to work on the boats that once populated the beach, a successful lift of Hálfdrættingur was the minimum weight required to at least hip height.
Hólahólar
A crater formation is home to mythical hidden-people legends and elves.
Ólafsvík
A small town on the northern side of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Here we have a short break and can use the facilities.
Kirkjufell
A lonesome cathedral-like mountain overlooking the town of Grundarfjörður

Day 5 : WHALES OF ICELAND FROM LAND & SEA

This combo tour admission allows you to experience the different whales found around Iceland from both land and sea. So entry to the Whales of Iceland is included in your Whale Watching ticket. Before or after your boat tour, we recommend visiting the Whales of Iceland Exhibition on the other side of Reykjavik’s Old Harbour area. The Whales of Iceland Exhibition showcases 23 life-size whale models with a lot of in-depth information, interactive experiences, and underwater footage of whales shown on an 8-metre screen. Part of the exhibition focuses on conservation, where whales’ multiple threats (and their solutions) are showcased today. The exhibition gives you a feeling of how small we are compared to the ocean wildlife.

On the Whale Watching tour, you will check in at the Special Tours Ticket Office in Reykjavik’s Old Harbour before you sail out to Faxaflói Bay. Here we will search for the most common whales in the area, such as humpback whales, minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, and harbour porpoises.

During the tour, we observe their behaviour in the wild while learning more about them from one of your expert guides. If there are no sightings on our tours, you are entitled to a ticket to try again for free
